Why Choose the SEIP® ?
The SEIP® is the most comprehensive, fully-validated and statistically reliable social and emotional intelligence assessment instrument available now and is used as a resource by professionals around the globe.
Unlike a number of the available EQ/EI testing programs, the SEIP® also measures “social intelligence” and is a statistically reliable and scientifically validated instrument. Nelson Consulting, LLC completed a 27-page study of the SEIP and determined these results:
- Reliability Total Score: 0.96 – excellent
- Reliability Analysis: Cronbach’s alpha ranging 0.56 to 0.84 & impressive-only 3 items/section
- Exploratory Factor Analysis: Fairly strong evidence of construct validity
- Confirmatory Factor Analysis: Very strong evidence of construct validity
What is the SEIP® Like?
The SEIP® is a 78 question, multiple-choice online evaluation which typically takes 10-20 minutes to complete.
The test has three versions: Adult (self), Youth (ages 11-17), and Workplace (which uses business language). Individuals may register take to the SEIP® on their own. Frequently, however, employers and businesses also provide the SEIP® testing as a career development benefit, as part of a workshop on social and emotional intelligence, or as a segment of a comprehensive emotional intelligence coaching program—individual or group.
There are 26 competencies measured by the SEIP® which are identified as critical in socially and emotionally intelligent individuals, families, teams and organizations. See the full list of social and emotional intelligence competencies by viewing the Four Quadrant Model which is used by ISEI for grouping the competencies.
The profile results are available as a link to a full report in PDF format which can be downloaded and printed. The profile results report is often about 40 pages and contains a graph of the respondent’s scores along with an explanation and development tips.
In addition to identifying areas of strength and areas for improvement, the assessment supplies in depth descriptions of emotionally and socially intelligent behaviors— in their absence as well as presence. Comprehensive development tips are included and helpful for the individual and other support persons such as family (parents/spouse), supervisors, coaches, and teachers.
A number of people who take the SEIP® also retain the services of a professional coach as an additional resource and support to reach their goals.
